Hormone Replacement Therapy - The Importance of Bio-Identicals

Dr. Khalid Mahmud talks about the importance of using bio-identical hormones and the proper delivery.
Hormone replacement therapy is known for helping relieve the symptoms and discomfort associated with menopause, but recent studies have shown there are complications associated with these hormones. According to Dr. Khalid Mahmud, these complications are due to the use of pharmaceutically manufactured hormones rather than using bio-identical hormones.
Pharmaceutically manufactured hormones have additional chemicals in them which, according to Dr. Mahmud, can deeply harm the body. He states they can cause all kinds of problems in the body from damage to blood vessels to heart attack and stroke. He advises that the use of bio-identical hormones , those matching the hormones already present in the body, reduces the risk of these side effects.
The delivery method of the hormones is also critical. Dr. Mahmud says that when a pill is swallowed, hormones go straight to the liver, an organ which doesn't usually host hormones such as estradiol nor progesterone. He suggests administering the hormones through a cream so that they go directly to the blood stream.
